Wishes Do No Good

” They’ll ask if you knew me my dear

And I hope you say you did

But if you say you didn’t

I wouldn’t question it

Rooftop views and the cold wind

The lights they shine so bright

But never as bright as your eyes did

When I looked into them that night

And some weeks go on forever

Oh how I wish that this one would

But somewhere from the mountaintop

A voice cries wishes do no good”
